Nonabelian solutions in a Melvin magnetic universe
We show the existence of D = 4 nonabelian solutions approaching asymptotically a dilatonic Melvin spacetime background. An exact solution generalizing the Chamseddine-Volkov soliton for a nonzero external U(1) magnetic field is also reported.
متن کاملCurvature in Hermitian Metric
Hermitian metric has the peculiarity of favoring negative curvature over positive curvature. We shall explain this phenomenon by pointing out that in the case of an isometric analytic imbedding the relative curvature is on the whole negative; also, by reduction to a limiting case of imbedding we shall explain why an invariant metric in the theory of Fuchsian groups is likely to be hyperbolic; s...
متن کاملRicci curvature of metric spaces
We define a notion of Ricci curvature in metric spaces equipped with a measure or a random walk. For this we use a local contraction coefficient of the random walk acting on the space of probability measures equipped with a transportation distance. This notions allows to generalize several classical theorems associated with positive Ricci curvature, such as a spectral gap bound (Lichnerowicz th...
متن کاملElectric/Magnetic Field Deformed Giant Gravitons in Melvin Geometry
The rotating D3-brane in the AdS5×S spacetime could be blowed up to the spherical BPS configuration which has the same energy and quantum number of the point-like graviton and is called as a giant graviton. The configuration is stable only if its angular momentum was less then a critical value of Pc. In this paper we investigate the properties of the giant graviton in the electric/magnetic Melv...
متن کاملThe curvature of a Hessian metric
In this paper, inspired by P.M.H. Wilson’s paper on sectional curvatures of Kähler moduli [31], we concentrate on the case where f is a homogeneous polynomial (also called a “form”) of degree d at least 2. Following Okonek and van de Ven [23], Wilson considers the “index cone,” the open subset where the Hessian matrix of f is Lorentzian (that is, of signature (1, ∗)) and f is positive. He restr...
